The Erindale Hounds

Ch Erindale Princess *22.06.1972 [Lizzie] (Jason of Sunningdale x Keady of Eaglescrag).

Lighter grey brindle. Very well angulated, correct length of back, lovely contours, balanced, elegant , good height but not so tall as Duchess. Very feminine, long tail and good set but carriage slightly sickle, good harsh coat. True hound and very good on the field, good muscular tone. Long houndy head but not enough furnishings and a little piggy eyed but deep dark kind ones. Beautiful moving and held shape but did toe in slightly on one foot. The very best endearing temperament. Long time developing and maturing but ended as such a complete picture.

She was my personal favorite bitch. Dam of E. Trident of Corniman, Aust Ch E Trader Princeof Ole, Int Ch E. Toledo Prince, E. Treanna.E.Talma. Ch E. Lady Sacha, E. Empress of Gledstone

Erindale Adam*22.06.1972[Jake]

Litter brother to Princess. He was sold as a puppy and then came back at a later stage as an adult to us…fate is a wonderful thing. Grey, tall dog with good lengths and proportions, not the great angulations of his sister but adequate enough, sound of foot and good form, good coat, true and sound moving, good spring of rib and nice head and expression and an absolute honey. Not quite as muscular and powerful a dog as he could have been due to pet home but none the less, a very decent sort. Sire of Ch E Saragh,  E. Saxon, USA Ch E Vernon, Ch E Phelan, E. By Jason of Sunningdale/Ballykelly Shanlaragh.

Red. Average height, big frame, plenty of substance, correct length and proportions in frame, strong boned and strong of foot, good tail, strong neck, brown eye, good pigment, dark brown ears but hung flat, good overall conformation, good width over rear and between elbows, very similar to Brid of Ballytobin to look down on, fair head and expression, unfortunately lost tuck up after pups and tended to become loggy with maturity but a good strong honest sort non the less. Won the first CC for Erindale but remained the one for her. Good character but could be stubborn. Sound and positive moving although not graceful. Clumsy mother and despite vigilant care some potentially promising babies were lost.

Dam of Ch Erindale Clarion of Finloren.

Erindale Countess *30.09.1972 [Flo]

Litter sister to E. Shanlaragh but out of a totally different mould. Tall red brindle, long boned frame and houndy, well sprung ribs, moderate but strong bone and moderately angulated, sound but not so great feet, good neck and tail, good lengths to head but plain, brown eye, fair ears and some furnishings. Very fit and agile, good coat and temperament, purposeful, not glamorous or glitzy but a good decent bitch. Long time finishing but went on to lead a very long and healthy life. Erindale Avenger of Kerryark*30.09.1972 [Ben]

Litter brother to Countess and E. Shanlaragh. Very tall and houndy fellow with many of his father’s virtues…movement for one! Well boned and strong frame but long time developing, Delightful laid back character and very gentlemanly. Plain headed, with lighter eyes and lazy ears yet kind expression, good coat, super tail, strong feet, well constructed with presence and a regal aura about him, un frilly  but a very collected dog.. Later homed with Kerryark hounds. Won 2 CC’s.

By Ch. Sanctuary Revog/ Brid of Ballytobin.

Steel grey brindle. Foot perfect and pretty “Finished” from the word go really. Built on a shorter boned frame, average height, super form and substance with great presence. I always thought of her as a real power horse-gift wrapped! Very fore square, great balance and conformation, sound and very precise movement with incredible propulsion, very neat and altogether, always in great condition. Sure footed, amazing acceleration on the field. She didn’t have to try really, she oozed quality and performance. Very attractive head but for me could have used a tad more length of muzzle. Nearly lost her at 5 months as had secondaries of pneumonia following kennel cough and was very touch and go for a while!. Dam of Ch E. Saragh, E. Saxon, E. Kim, Ch E Phelan.USA Ch E Vernon, E. Erindale Brid *01.05.1973. Red brindle. Litter sister to Bernice. Great shame her sister overshadowed her so much. Very much the same qualities in many respects and similarities, not so refined or clean cut, nor quite the

“Wow” factor . Unfortunately,  Brid was not as angulated  at the rear and high tail. Great person though and I actually preferred her face to her sisters. Dam of Ch. E. Grey Rufus and E. Gipsy

Wheaten. Fate again plays a role here on the plus and the minus side. Plus side is that he was homed as a baby and came back due to circumstances Jan 1974…if he hadn’t have come back - there would have been no Triston! I have never seen a hound so heartbroken as this one, he very nearly pined to death! We had him in the house obviously, where he stayed as there  was no way he would have survived in a kennel. He was immovable for the first week, just laid in a corner of the kitchen, not through nervousness I might add but from grief! He did come round eventually and turned out to be quite funny with his antics, he  could be an absolute comic. He was a shapely boy with elegance and a style, attractive head except for ears which were dark and hung flat more often than not, soulful dark eyes, black pigment,

Furnished head, sickle tail carriage, good coat, smart looking dog. Too short coupled though unfortunately Good length of leg, feet and spring of rib, and developed into a nice sort with good qualities and proved his worth as a sire. Very affectionate, calm boy but could play you up in a mischievous way. The minus side was that tragically, he met with a bad accident injuring his spine terminally and had to be put down Jan1975, a great shame and such  a very short life. He had however left us the very special legacy of his son Triston and a daughter Mollie.
